The crash happened at Stiffkey, near Wells, just after midday on Tuesday when a red Triumph Bonneville Street Twin 900 motorbike left the road and collided with a hedge.

The rider, a man in his 40s, sustained serious injuries and died at the scene.

One villager, who has lived in Stiffkey for 30 years, said: “It is heartbreaking that yet another motorcyclist has lost his life – he is somebody’s son, boyfriend, husband.”

She also described that section of the A149, which was closed just past the junction with Greenway, as a "notorious blackspot".
