Norwich Crown Court was told the pair were caught after being spotted trying to exchange trainers under the table in a visiting area.

Berritt, from Chelmsford, Essex, appeared at court - via videolink - on Tuesday to be sentenced, having previously admitted attempting to get prohibited items - cannabis and mobile phones - into the prison in 2023.

Judge Antony Bate imposed six months imprisonment, suspended for 18 months.

The case had previously been adjourned in February after Berritt was unable to attend after she suffered a bout of food poisoning.

In September last year Berritt's co-defendant, Jacobs, then 36, was jailed for 21 months.

Jacobs, of Dagenham, Essex, had admitted charges of attempting to get prohibited items - drugs, phones, SIM cards and a phone charger - into HMP Norwich in 2023.

The Knox Road jail brought in extra security measures in 2019 as part of a drive to tackle the smuggling of weapons, drugs and phones through its doors.
