MP raises concerns over plans for village refugee centre (but doesn't oppose them)

Steffan Aquarone, Liberal Democrat MP for North Norfolk, says he is "seeking assurances" after it emerged the former officers' mess at RAF Coltishall could be turned into immigration accommodation.

A contractor working for the Home Office is seeking planning permission for a change of use of the Jaguar House in Badersfield from Broadland Council.

It would house Afghans who worked with the British following the invasion of their country in 2001 and their families, providing temporary housing until long-term homes are found for them.

Following the plans being revealed, villagers have taken to social media to raise their concerns and have also written to their local MPs.
