Decade-long downsizing saga has now cost couple £100,000

Eric Goodman and partner Penelope Blake, both in their 80s, have discovered that the government officials presiding over their case have a conflict of interest. The news has caused further delays in an extraordinary ongoing saga.

The pair are locked in a battle to be allowed to live in a wooden lodge they built in the village of Itteringham, The Muster.

They are currently making their ninth attempt to be allowed to stay there after North Norfolk District Council (NNDC) evicted them for not having the correct planning permission.

It has left them crashing with family and friends, living in hotels and even staying in a tent at one point.

The lodge was originally built as an annexe to Robin Farm, a house they used to own. But after the couple split the land in half and sold the house, the lodge severed its ties to the larger........
