Angry scenes on the street as locals try to take down national flags from lampposts

The Union Jacks and Cross of St Georges were fixed to flagpoles along Dereham Road and nearby Grapes Hill, Barn Road and Barrack Street on Tuesday night.

Some locals objected and the police were called out twice during the evening but declined to take any action.

However, on Wednesday some of those locals used their own ladders to take down the flags prompting angry scenes as the group who had put them up........
