New water recycling plant earmarked for town as part of £1.5bn scheme
Communities across the county are being urged to have their say on proposals for the new water infrastructure project that spans large areas of Suffolk.
Essex and Suffolk Water is seeking views on a new water recycling plant in the Lowestoft area, along with a new pipeline network and underground drinking reservoirs to alleviate shortages in what is one of the driest parts of the UK.
A new six-week consultation, which reaches out to more than 100 towns and parishes across north-east Suffolk, is under way.
The major infrastructure project is set to impact a large area of Suffolk - including Lowestoft, Beccles, Bungay and Halesworth.
It forms part of a long term plan to secure reliable water supplies for Suffolk, after the Environment Agency officially recognised East Anglia as a "seriously water stressed area."
