Nesting kittiwakes silence carnival's fireworks display bid

But instead of ruffling feathers, organisers of the 2025 Lowestoft Carnival have vowed that the parade is still going ahead in August - as they hatch a plan to ensure crowds will be wowed by the closing entertainment.

As positive momentum continues to build with the revival of the town's carnival this summer, organisers said it's still all systems go as carnival fever returns for the first time in more than 12 years.

With it set to "be a celebration of Lowestoft", organisers this week called on more people to get involved.

Picture: Mick Howes (Image: Mick Howes) After liaising with the Lowestoft Kittiwake Partnership, carnival organisers said they were supporting wildlife as the kittiwakes - who "are part of the Lowestoft community too" - will still be nesting in the week of the event.
