Market traders owe council almost £20,000 in unpaid rent
Great Yarmouth Borough Council opened the new Market Place building in phases from spring 2022, as part of a £5.8m project to regenerate the town centre.
Back in 2022 all 15 stalls had been let as traders moved into the first section of the new six-day market, which replaced the 30-year-old canopy.
The £4.7m market revamp was completed with the second phase housing a further 12 stalls as it opened in February 2024.
Now, it has emerged Great Yarmouth Borough Council is owed almost £20,000 in unpaid rent from market traders.
The council told this newspaper that the total value of unpaid rent is £19,279.
According to the BBC, four stallholders have been in rent........
