Green light for 500 homes development on factory site
The major redevelopment of the former Jeld Wen joinery factory in Lowestoft with up to 500 new homes, employment land and provision for a new early years setting has been given the go-ahead.
However, due to the costs associated with clearing out the site, no affordable homes had been proposed.
East Suffolk Council’s strategic planning committee voted in favour of approving plans for the former factory site last Friday.

Council officials hailed it as "a major step forward for the town," as it meets one of the council’s local plan priorities for brownfield land regeneration in the Kirkley Waterfront area.
