Bid to convert part of pub that was at centre of council battle is lodged
A scheme has been lodged that could see part of a vacant pub in Lowestoft that had been at the centre of a licensing review probe given a new lease of life.
Plans could see a ground floor flat introduced at The Carousel on the High Street.
The Grade II-listed Carousel public house - formerly known as The Wheatsheaf and previously the Herring Fishery Inn and the Spread Eagle Hotel before that - dates back to the 1880s.
The mixed-use property currently includes the pub, function room and two, two-bedroom flats that are occupied on long-term tenancies on the upper floors
A scheme submitted by agents Julian D Hood Ltd, on behalf of the applicant Mr Sam Cole was lodged with East Suffolk Council earlier this month.
The plans - centring around "part conversion of Public House to two bed........
