But the empty shops in the historic Royal Arcade, which connects Castle Meadow with Gentleman’s Walk, are soon to be filled with new businesses.

Simon Ashdown, Director, LPC1, the company that manages the Royal Arcade, said: “The good news is that we have agreements in place with new stores for all of the units in the Royal Arcade that are available for lease and are just in the process of completing the administration on these.

"We are really pleased with the progress that has been made and hope to be able to announce the first of these new tenants next week.
