Janet Tooze and her partner Keith Catterwell were digging a hole to install a pond at their new home in Nelson Road when they discovered about 30 bullets buried in the dirt.

Mystery surrounds how the .303 caliber bullets ended up buried in the garden and after contacting police, the couple aims to recruit an archaeologist to investigate the plot of land to see if there is more ammunition hidden away.

Ms Tooze said: "My partner shouted to me that he had found some ammunition.

"I thought he was being his usual self and joking, but then he showed me one of the bullets.
