Over the past month, the hooligans have been hurling raw eggs from moving cars, sometimes several times at night.

An employee of Grow barber shop on Tombland, named Murphy, said: "I was at the Artichoke pub, just sitting down outside with my head in my hands after a long day, and I hear my friends say 'watch out'.

"Then I see an egg splattered by my foot.

"I did not think anything of it, but later that night we got another set of eggs thrown at us.

"We probably had three eggs thrown at us.

"I came to work the next day and Elliot, the owner, said the shop had been egged too.

"My mate said it was [from] a blueish car."
