Annesley House Hotel, a three-star business in Newmarket Road, has been owned by Jill and David Reynolds since the 1980s.

The couple have decided to retire from running the business, which is based in a Grade II listed building.

"For the past 40 years, we have lived in and around Norwich and have loved every minute of our time at the hotel, over the years we have slowly improved the business," Mrs Reynolds said.

"Now, with David being in his seventies, we both feel it is time to retire and hand over the baton to a fellow enthusiast who will continue to care for this fine establishment in a fine city."

The property consists of three buildings and two converted coach houses, originally believed to have been built in around 1832.

It has 31 rooms across these buildings and is available leasehold with an asking price of £275,000.

Simon Jackaman, director of hotels at property advisers Christie & Co, added: "Annesley House is the perfect hotel for a buyer with experience."
