Norfolk Children's Book Centre was founded by librarian Marilyn Brocklehurst in Alby near Aylsham.

Last summer, Ms Brocklehurst revealed she would be selling up her house, which is where the shop will remain until June this year.

The business is now run by her son Matt Brocklehurst and his partner Annie Rhodes.

In an announcement, manager Ms Rhodes revealed the store would be moving to the well-known attraction, Wroxham Barns.

The site focuses on family fun, including camping, animal petting, shopping and food at the Courtyard Café.

“We are thrilled to move our business to an exciting and bustling location with many attractions and facilities that our customers can enjoy alongside the bookshop," Ms Rhodes said.

"We hope that our friends and customers will join us on our next chapter, and that many people will discover the delights of Norfolk Children's Book Centre for the first time at Wroxham Barns.”

Ian Russell, owner of Wroxham Barns, added: “We’re absolutely delighted to welcome the Norfolk Children’s Book Centre to Wroxham Barns this summer.

"Their passion for inspiring young readers and families perfectly complements what we offer here at Wroxham Barns, and we know they will be a fantastic addition for our younger visitors."

To finance the move, the store has put out an appeal to raise £40,000 to complete the new and improved Norfolk Children's Book Centre.

Over the years, countless authors and illustrators have visited and signed the walls of the shop, including Michael Morpurgo, Jacqueline Wilson, Malorie Blackman, Liz Pichon, Cressida Cowell and Jackie Morris.

The business is in the running for Independent Bookshop of the Year at The British Book Awards 2026 for the East of England category.
