MP demands answers from Anglian Water over major leak chaos

The burst water main left thousands in Dereham without water during the first heatwave of the year in May.

George Freeman, MP for Mid Norfolk, has written to the chief executive of Anglian Water following a major water outage, which occurred over the late May Bank Holiday weekend.

His letter demands the company compensate people left without water during the outage.

The disruption was caused by a burst main and subsequent pump failure on Girling Road, leaving around 1,757 properties without water or with very low pressure during a period of extreme heat.

Mr Freeman said he shares Norfolk county councillor Alison Webb's "serious concerns" about the handling of the incident and the decision not to compensate most of those affected.
