Villagers launch High Court fight against service station expansion
Plans to expand Gillingham Services, near Beccles, were approved by South Norfolk Council in July despite dozens of objections from locals.
Now, campaigners are attempting to challenge the council’s verdict in the High Court.

The Friends of Gillingham Countryside Community Interest Company has launched a crowdfunding appeal to fund a judicial review, arguing that the council’s decision was “unlawful” because key aspects of the planning process were mishandled.
The group, represented by Sharpe Pritchard LLP, has identified five alleged failings, accusing the council of a range of errors including flaws in its environmental screening and questioning the legality of a footpath linking the site to the village.
