Shopkeepers on Norwich Street in Fakenham say careless drivers have crashed into historic shopfronts, blocked off ambulances and hit elderly pedestrians.

The chaos has led to one business owner on the road to warn that "there's going to be somebody dying" if safety measures are not installed soon.

The man, who wanted to remain unnamed, said his elderly father was recently hit while leaving his shop and that a 150-year-old cornice had been knocked off by a delivery van mounting the pavement.

"Drivers have no respect, no respect at all", he said.

"People think that they can drive at speed, they have no consideration and no care for other road users.
