Protest group take unorthodox step against huge solar farm plans

Mad Millivolts’ Solar Factories is a reworking of H Rider Haggard's King Solomon’s Mines, featuring the energy secretary as a mythical and misguided figure devoted to ruinous schemes.

James Ruppert said he wrote the 200-page book because he, like Rider Haggard, is from the Norfolk village of Bradenham, which is due to be at the centre of a massive solar farm, High Grove.

"The idea is to get the message about solar factories across in a light-hearted way, with a proper bogeyman villain we can all boo," he said.

“It has hard solar facts, but hopefully it’s a rollicking read as well. Let’s hope Netflix makes it into a show with Tom Hardy as the no-nonsense lead.”
