More than 100 ex-offenders rehoused in Dereham from across Norfolk and Suffolk

A total of 256 households have been placed in temporary accommodation in the town centre in the last year by district councils across Norfolk and even Suffolk.

Of these, 115 are described as being “vulnerable” due to having spent time in custody or having a history of offending.

The figures come amid growing concerns from residents and councillors about a perceived rise in anti-social behaviour.

A Dereham Town Council (DTC) report looking into the issue said the influx was “starting to impact on the character of the town centre”.

This prompted the town council to submit a series of freedom of information (FOI) requests to eight district councils in Norfolk and Suffolk, asking how many households........
