Despite an extensive police search spanning thousands of homes and miles of waterways, the body of missing Manuel Pereira was not discovered until four months after his disappearance.

He was eventually found in Great Yarmouth on New Year's Eve last year when a man went to check his private garage for the first time in a year and a half.

It was just 80 yards from Mr Pereira’s home.

An inquest into his death held at Norfolk Coroner’s Court was attended by Mr Pereria’s wife and two sons.

Prior to his disappearance on August 19, his family said he had deteriorated quickly after being diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease and dementia just four months prior to going missing.

They said he was often unable to remember his address and frequently became confused........
