Hundreds attend funeral of 14-year-old who died in the Broads
Locals have spoken of quieter shops, slower days and a stillness hanging over the town.
This bereavement was no more evident than on Saturday, when hundreds arrived at Waveney Memorial Park and Crematorium in order to pay their respects to the teen, who died after getting into difficulties in the Waveney on Wednesday 2 July.

A large attendance had been expected, but the number of mourners - including relatives, friends and neighbours - seemed to exceed even the funeral director’s expectations.
So much so that concerns were raised via radio about the “traffic issue” building up round the corner from the venue as queuing cars spilled into the B1127.
At around 10am, the funeral procession arrived, moving slowly past crowds clutching flowers, tissues and one another.

Nischay’s hearse, drawn by a horse and carriage, was accompanied by his non-identical twin Niyam - who had been with him at Beccles Quay when he died.
Niyam, who described his twin as his best friend, played a leading role in the first half of the funeral - a Hindu service attended by around 50 people - featuring mainly family, a few close friends, and mayor of Beccles, Barry Darch.
