Now officers from Norfolk Police are working with Kay Mason Billig to hunt down the thieves who callously ripped apart the headstones.

Mrs Mason Billig has issued an urgent plea for anyone with information to come forward or who may know why someone would target the copper metal on the graves.

The disgusting crime took place in near-darkness during the early hours of Friday, July 31.

The offenders targeted St Botolph's Church at Shingham in west Norfolk, removing sections of its roof before turning their attention to the graves, which were completely torn apart during the senseless act.

The site marks the final resting place of her sons, Arthur and Harold, who tragically died at the ages of 21 and 23 respectively.

She said: “I cannot comprehend how anyone could inflict that kind of hurt on another family for the sake of scrap metal.
