Council accused of running 'dictatorship' as member is ordered to leave fiery meeting
Tempers flared at West Norfolk Council as councillors clashed over claims the authority is preparing to sell a residential caravan park which it owns.
The tumultuous meeting saw an explosive row between independent member Alexandra Kemp, who is opposed to such a sale, and deputy leader Simon Ring, which ended in her being ordered to leave the meeting.
The clash began when Ms Kemp raised concerns about the Hardwick Bridge Residential Park, in South Lynn, being among assets the authority was planning to sell.
But Mr Ring, who has risen to prominence of late for saying he planned to resign and stand again in protest at the cancellation of county council election, quickly shut her down.
“She’s treading on very, very thin ice talking about people’s homes and things that should not have been released from a confidential list,” he said.
The council leaders warned Ms Kemp the matter could not be discussed in public.
