Locals in South Walsham have been battling to revive the Ship Inn since it closed during the pandemic in 2020.

Now, after years of wrangling, a vote on whether the historic building will be turned into a residential home is likely to prove a decisive moment in the future of the once beloved Broads village venue.

A report published ahead of the South Norfolk planning meeting this week told councillors to approve the proposal as the building was no longer viable as a pub.
