Dr Gurdeep Padda, cabinet member for equalities and social justice at Norwich City Council, said she had been "astonished" by Norfolk Constabulary's announcement, only five days before the parade.

The force - which has previously taken part in Norwich Pride - has reversed its policy after a High Court ruling that to do so may breach its duty of impartiality.
