Young musical maestro reaches top spot at organ-playing competition
Oscar Battle, who lives in New Catton, beat six other competitors to be crowned young theatre organist of the year, at the Musical Museum in Brentford last weekend.
The 15-year-old's gift to "pick up a tune" by ear helped him reach the top spot and earn broad recognition within the organist space.
Oscar's father Steven Battle, also an organist, says he's "incredibly proud" of his son's achievement.
The 71-year-old said: "He's managed to reach a standard that takes some people 20 or 30 years to achieve, some perhaps never.
