Pet owners warned of flea treatments that are harmful to Broads wildlife
The Broads Authority has told dog and cat owners to be aware of pet products such as spot-on flea treatments that contain harmful insecticides like fipronil and imidacloprid.
If animals that have been treated with them enter a body of water such as a pond, river, lake or ditch, the substances can be washed away and harm the species inside the habitat.

The species that are most vulnerable to them on the Broads are dragonflies, damselflies and freshwater........
