The body of Natan Mirecki, from Thetford, was found in the countryside early on the morning of Friday, April 3.

While a coroner has yet to confirm his cause of death, his older sister, Wiktoria Mirecka, said there had been no warning signs but believed he had been "battling with his own mind".

"You never, ever would have thought he was struggling," she said.

"He was literally perfect - he was very bright, very smart and he never had any problems with anyone."

The teenager, one of seven siblings aged between two and 24, attended Thetford Academy and often spoke about his dreams of becoming an engineer or an electrician.

At home, he was known for his thoughtful gestures.

“My mum would get up and find that he’d left a mug and a kettle full of water out so she could make herself a cup of tea,” Ms Mirecka recalled.

"He was always the one to be there for and listen to everyone else. We could cry to him, tell him our problems, and he always made things that little bit easier.

"He was hilarious, so it was hard not to laugh at him.

"It really hurt him seeing any of us upset - especially my mum."

In the days after Natan’s death, she set up a GoFundMe page to raise money for his send-off.

“Mum’s initial reaction was, ‘no, I’m not begging for money - he's my son, I’m doing this myself'," she said.

"But I said to her, even if we all put our money in as a family, we could never afford to give him a funeral as perfect as he deserves.”

The appeal has been widely shared online and has drawn support from across Thetford and beyond, and it currently sits at £7,914.

“We never, ever expected it to go so far,” Ms Mirecka said.

"It makes me feel so proud. In his head, no one cared, but he was clearly so loved.

"So many of his friends have come round to my mum’s house to see her and just be there, or leave flowers and photos outside for her to see."

A spokeswoman for Norfolk Police said: "Officers were called to an area off Thetford Road in Shadwell at 6.45am on Friday, April 3 following reports the body of a teenager had been discovered.

"An investigation is underway to establish the circumstances around the death, which is not believed to be suspicious.”
