Kerry Byrne, the owner of Flourish Beauty, is getting ready to start serving coffee, sandwiches and homemade cakes at her clinic in Sandy Lane.

Ms Byrne said its been a real family effort bringing the new cafe area, which will be open to both customers and members of the public, to life.

She said: “My three sons have been amazing helping with the renovation.

“The coffee bar should hopefully be open next week.

“I am just waiting on the coffee machine to be delivered and the bar to be given some finishing touches.

“We’ve got room to expand it if people like the idea.

“The cakes will be made from a local baker called Chloe, who is trying to set up a small business and we will also serve cold drinks and snacks.

Ms Byrne believes the area in Lakenham is in desperate need of a new space to socialise.

She said: “Working in the beauty industry, I have noticed that sometimes going to an appointment is the only interaction customers get daily.

“You become an agony aunt in some sense.

“I think there’s a need for the young and old generations to come together.

“I want to give back to the community.

“My daughter is 15 and I’d really like to get her working at the salon on Saturdays.

“She struggles with anxiety and I think it would be a good opportunity for her to help out."

The coffee bar will be open seven days a week from 7am.

Ms Byrne expanded the site in October with a new treatment room where she offers a range of services including massages, facials and manicures.
