Larry Lamb, 78, visited Lionwood Infant and Nursery School in Norwich and read stories to school children, to mark the opening on October 31.

Mr Lamb, who is in Norwich for the Norwich Book Festival to promote his debut novel, All Wrapped Up, said: “It’s a lovely occasion.

“Everyone used to have a library in my day and age.

“I became an actor in North America.

“The first time I stepped on a stage in Britain was on the stage of the Theatre Royal in 1977 for the show Filumena.

“It’s important for me to be here.”
