Grant Nurden, who sits on Broadland Council, said he would continue in his role as an independent councillor in Marshes ward, including the villages of Beighton, Freethorpe, Halvergate and Reedham.

Mr Nurden was first elected for the Tories in 2015 but said he has "chosen not to renew" his membership.
