The initiative is being carried out at Broadland Council and South Norfolk Council and will run for one year, with a view to the technology being expanded and kept on permanently.

At a recent meeting Broadland Council agreed to its £67,000 investment, which comes after South Norfolk Council put in £82,000 to fund the project.

The AI software will be used online and over the phone to provide automated responses to "routine enquiries", in order to cut costs and supposedly create a "smoother" customer experience.
