Norfolk Conservative club at centre of year-long police investigation
Ken Parker and Mick Holland were arrested last summer on suspicion of fraud after resigning from their roles as secretary and chairman of Thetford Conservative Club.
The pair were suspected of having cheated the club out of £45,000 and subjected to an extensive investigation which included the raiding of their homes by officers.
But after months of "hell" and scrutiny of financial records, Mr Parker and Mr Holland have been vindicated - with Norfolk Constabulary finding no evidence of wrongdoing.
Despite this, the men have been handed lifetime bans by Thetford Conservative Club and could face further legal action from the organisation in the civil courts.
Mr Parker, 73, and Mr Holland, 67, have called on the club to issue an apology for "tarnishing" their reputations in the town.

Mr Parker and Mr Holland, who were secretary and chairman for nine years, left their roles at Thetford Conservative Club in May 2023.
The pair had suffered from poor health in the months leading up to this decision and had decided it was time to hand on the baton to a younger crowd.
Mr Parker said he sensed a "strange atmosphere" among members around this time, with many former friends and colleagues no longer able to look him in the eye.
