Council defends itself after criticism over tiny election turnout
Swaffham Town Council has come under fire after emerged how few people had voted in the count earlier this month.
The authority has received complaints from locals, who say they were not made aware of the election and knew nothing about the candidates standing.
However, representatives for the council have defended its decision not to send out costly poll cards, and insists notices were displayed throughout the town.
The Swaffham Town Council by-election was triggered in January after Sarah Pickard, a former councillor, failed to turn up to meetings for six months.
