Renowned farmer who once appeared on a crisp packet dies, aged 77
But the award-winning Bill Legge, of Further Fen Farm in Southery, took pride of place when he appeared on the back of Sainsbury’s Taste the Difference crips.
And no stranger to success, he also featured on the Potato Lovers website and featured as part of Morrisons Café adverts.
But at the heart of his farming career was a deep understanding of the need to diversify and remain sustainable for generations to come.

His father, Les Legge, was originally a horseman for other farmers.
Les would go on to buy one of the first self-propelled drills allowing him to attend to thousands of acres of beans, chicory, sugar beet, onions and carrots.
And he started the business A. L. Legge & Son with just one acre of church land.
From the age of 15, Bill attended Easton College of Agriculture and became part of Downham Market Young Farmers where he made friends for life.
