Partner of man who died in Norfolk prison hopes 'lessons have been learned'

Inmate Andrew Neal died last year just hours after speaking to prison officers to raise concerns about his mental health, an inquest heard.

The father-of-three was found unconscious by a fellow prisoner in his cell at HMP Wayland, near Thetford.

He died at the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital just over a week later from a brain injury, having suffered a hypoxic cardiac arrest.

Norfolk Coroner's Court was told during a two-week inquest that the 53-year-old had been transferred to the prison just weeks earlier.
