Notorious Norwich pensioner jailed for raping schoolchildren dies in prison
An inquest at Norfolk Coroners’ Court revealed he died of severe pneumonia, contributed to by lung disease and emphysema.
He had been found on his cell floor at HMP Bure on March 12 and was taken to the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital where he died on March 18.

His death was examined by the Prisons and Probation Ombudsman - a statutory body which launches an independent investigation whenever anyone dies in custody.
Area coroner Johanna Thompson said the investigation had been “very thorough”.
