Eddison Watts, from Cawston, near Aylsham, was diagnosed with a heart defect called Tetralogy of Fallot during his mother’s pregnancy.

His mother Jo Watts, 43, explained how the condition means blood is unable to flow around the body properly.

She described how she was left “scared” after being told following a scan that her baby had a heart problem – particularly after doctors were unable to identify the cause.

It was only after a specialist foetal cardiology scan at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) in London that the family could finally be given the diagnosis.

Mrs Watts said: “It was an unknown and an absolutely scary time.

“We’ve got two older daughters who are heart-healthy and were normal pregnancies, so being told at the 20-week scan that something is wrong with your baby’s heart was very overwhelming and very hard.

"After going through what we did with Eddison, I am a big advocate that the 20-week scan is not just a gender reveal scan, it is an anomaly scan.
