Public apology issued by Norfolk hospital after mother's death from cancer aged 38

A two-day inquest into Carla Smith's death heard that she had been diagnosed with an aggressive form of ovarian cancer before her death on June 7, 2023.

Ms Smith, of Hunstanton, had experienced a string of delays in diagnosing her condition, which had limited her treatment options and prevented earlier intervention.

As a result, her cancer was able to advance and spread to the point several treatment options were no longer available to her.

The missed opportunities to escalate her care were laid bare at Norfolk Coroner's Court that heard she had first raised concerns in January 2022, prompting investigations.

But it was not........
