Josh Roper, a former youth coach at North Walsham Town Football Club, where Lionesses star and Man City striker Lauren Hemp trained as a teenager, has been accused of behaving inappropriately towards young female players.

He is this week facing a Teaching Regulation Agency misconduct panel to determine whether his alleged behaviour warrants a teaching ban - with Mr Roper having previously also been head of PE at Sheringham Community Primary Academy.

On Monday, August 19, the panel heard a series of allegations against Mr Roper from one of his former players - known as Child A.

The teenager described a pattern of behaviour from Mr Roper while she was at the club in 2022, between the ages of 14 and 15, which had left her considering quitting the game.
