Plans to demolish Debenhams building in city centre have been revealed

Contractors have submitted a proposal outlining how the former Debenhams building in Norwich will be torn down as part of its application to build student accommodation.

Under the demolition proposals part of the site would be secured with scaffolding on both the outside and the inside so that it can be demolished safely using a top-down approach.

Once this has been completed, the remainder of the building will be demolished with high reach machinery.

A section of a property connected to the back of the building is expected to be retained while demolition works are carried out.

Even though a decision has not been made on the proposals, workmen have already been spotted working at the site to survey the building.

The owners of the site - Orford House Developments Ltd - lodged the plans to develop the building into accommodation and retail units in January last year.

But a year and a half later, Norwich........
