Town business group embroiled in Union Jack flag controversy
That process sounds simple enough but it has sparked controversy in a Norfolk market town.
Every summer, the Stalham Area Business Forum (SABF), a group promoting trade, fits Union Jacks on specially-mounted flagpoles along the High Street.
But when the association removed the flags on Saturday, September 13, it found itself facing allegations of "politicising" the symbol - claims which the group has wholeheartedly refuted.
Chairperson Jo Horsnell said: "We've had so many events over the summer between us and the town council, the flags had been up for longer........
