Great Yarmouth Borough Council was responding after Unite announced that workers in the council's repairs and maintenance service had voted in favour of strike action in a dispute over proposed changes to terms and conditions.

Around 40 staff will walk out on October 19 and 20 in a disagreement over terms and conditions.

The workers, previously employed by contractor Norse, were transferred to the council two years ago under the Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) Regulations (TUPE).
