£1.3m plan to save sinking town road after years of collapses
Now, after years of collapses and closures, Riverside Road in Gorleston could finally be made safe under a £1.3m plan to build a new river wall and flood defences.
Running alongside the River Yare, the road has suffered years of erosion and “tidal wash” that have steadily eaten away at its foundations.
Locals say they often avoid the route, describing it as “dangerous” and comparing the crumbling edges to “cliff erosion”.
