New lifts and a bridge have made the battlements accessible to all visitors, while a new medieval gallery features world-class objects loaned from the British Museum.
An actor portraying Henry I welcomed visitors into the castle on Thursday (August 7) morning, after one of the monarch's guards proclaimed it open.

A stream of visitors made for the keep to see the fruits of the transformation, which started in 2020.
They applauded a new animation projected on to keep's walls, telling the story of the Grade I-listed castle and medieval Norwich.

And new display boards revealed details that people might not have noticed before, including a spiral........
