Proposals for 'reimagining' Norwich's City Hall revealed
Labour-led Norwich City Council says investing in its headquarters will protect the Grade II*-listed building, while bringing in an economic boost of at least £53m.
The council has already spent £1m to work up designs and an outline business case for changes to the Art Deco building, which opened in 1938.
While some of the changes are geared towards ensuring council staff have modern workplaces, other alterations could open up the building to the public.
Analysis suggests around 2,600m² of space within City Hall could be repurposed for community use, public access, and commercial workspace.
The revamp for the building includes new public areas on the ground floor and civic spaces on the first floor.
