MP sparks backlash arguing 'disruptive' fighter jet training should happen over sea

Liberal Democrat MP Steffan Aquarone has faced a backlash for his Parliamentary plea, with critics saying such flights are crucial for the defence of the country.

During defence questions in the House of Commons on Monday (November 3), the North Norfolk MP said he had been contacted by dozens of constituents frustrated at the noise from RAF and USAF fighter jets.

He said: "It makes it hard to work, it traumatises pets, and in the case of one of my constituents it has left them with permanent hearing damage.
