Legal fight over new Norfolk tip as business takes council to the High Court
Bosses at Hilltop Outdoor Centre have launched a legal battle against the council's plans to move and replace Sheringham Recycling Centre.
A judge has granted the Beeston Regis business a two-day hearing at London's Royal Courts of Justice, where its lawyers will argue County Hall acted unlawfully in awarding itself permission for the replacement tip.
Hundreds of Norfolk schoolchildren head to the 30-acre adventure centre every year. The new recycling centre would be built in neighbouring fields.
The centre's owners opposed the plans, saying their business would suffer from noise and traffic from the new tip - and that the Conservative-run county council had not followed lawful processes.
