First votes cast for three councils to replace Norfolk's current eight
Conservative-controlled Breckland voted for the ‘Future Norfolk’ proposal on Thursday afternoon, with West Norfolk Council, run by an independent coalition and Broadland District Council, also run by a coalition, following suit later in the day.
It comes amid the Labour government's local government reorganisation plan - the biggest shake-up in how councils will be run in 50 years, which would see all Norfolk's councils scrapped and replaced.
